CRIS team presented at OCEANS 2025, Great Lakes

At the recent OCEANS Conference held in the Great Lakes, Chicago from 29 September to 2 October, our team had presented two research papers showcasing innovative approaches to environmental monitoring and marine debris detection.

Autonomous Aerial Monitoring Framework for Floating Waste Detection and Geolocation, presented by Marco Moreno, this paper introduces an autonomous aerial monitoring framework designed to detect floating waste and accurately geolocate it in challenging aquatic environments. The system demonstrates how drone vision and artificial intelligence can be used effectively for real-time environmental monitoring and waste tracking.

Detection of Marine Debris in Saltmarshes Using UAV-based Multispectral Images
Our second contribution, presented by Sagar Dalai, explores the application of multispectral UAV imaging to identify marine debris in sensitive saltmarsh ecosystems. This research advances remote sensing techniques and supports better decision-making for coastal environmental protection.
